Leadership has been and will always be a complex topic to discus. There are so many studies and opinions on what leadership was, is, should and could be. While there is no concrete way to lead, there are definite do’s and don’ts we should observe while in leadership positions. Let’s take a closer look at some of the “don’ts”.

Arrogance
Leave your ego at the front door. If you want to be a great leader, you need to know that a big ego is never the way to go.

Favoritism
Practicing favoritism in the workplace leaves very little room for leaders to be able to build trust and respect among their employees.

Take the time to understand that every single person in your organization has value and brings something different and invaluable to the table.

Dishonesty
Being dishonest as a leader is one of the most damaging things you can do. It brings your character into question and you  run the risk of never being able to regain the trust of your employees ever again.

Bad communication
Communication is key.

The ability to be clear and concise in your communication throughout your organization is essential if you are trying to promote a healthy culture. Otherwise, you risk the chance of running in to problems involving miscommunication and disorganization.

The inability to be flexible
Try not to misunderstand, there are many things worth standing your ground for. However, there will be times that for the whatever reason leaders will need to be flexible.

Laziness
As a leader, you owe it not only to your organization but to yourself to work hard and lead by example. You should be willing to work harder than everyone else on your team.
